We had a new instructor today. Her name is Wendy. She is a hardcore spinner and weaver. Ah yes, the exact person I want to absorb everything I can from! She pulled out the spinning wheel this afternoon. Love at first sight, let me tell you!
We did Fibre Science today. How to identify various fibres, their feel, what they’re used for, what they may be blended with and why. She had us set up a sample book. I thought that was genius! That will be so handy to reference when the time comes. So we did that for most of the day.
Tomorrow is going to be spinning and weaving. I am SO EXCITED!!!! I just knew I was going to fall in love with felting. I was right. I have the same feeling about spinning and weaving. I KNOW I’m going to love it! I was joking around with one my classmates today, saying about how all of the stuff that I was really pumped about has come up within the first week. So what are we going to do for the rest of the course? Lol
As for the weekend, it was pretty amazing. I probably should have stayed in and kept things low key. But what fun is that? Sleep deprivation all the way! Little man and I joined the bestie and her man at the sculpture forest in Haliburton. It was a beautiful day. Little man had a blast running around and climbing all over the sculptures. One was a rocket ship according to him.
Yesterday Mom took little man and I to see my bro and his ladies. It was a really nice day. On our way home, little man needed to use the potty. So we went into Tim Horton’s. There were 3 police officers sitting in there having coffee. Mom wanted to take little man over to introduce him to them in case they knew my brother (who is also an officer). I love the look of pride she gets on her face when she talks about my brother and little man 🙂
So is it tomorrow yet?

The first time I ever wove was when I was in grade one. A teacher brought her loom into our class. I wanted to know more about it, but had no idea where to start asking questions. I then got a Fisher Price loom for Christmas the following year. I loved it, but since I was a child, I ended up loosing the pieces for it. Now I know where to turn for questions and I will be requiring my own loom! LOL

Thanks! I don’t know if there’s a feeling much stronger than love, but if there is, that’s what I’m feeling about this course! I’m very sure that I’m in the process of discovering my purpose for this journey 😀
Just found your blog, and see you have been hit by the spinning bug, yeah! It is so satisfying to take fibres and turn them into yarn and then into something knitted or woven! Have fun!

I’m not sure if hit is the right word or that I have been bitten. That little critter has latched on to me and won’t let go! (The spinning wheel is now on order! LOL) I’m looking forward to knitting something with my own yarn. And weaving… I seriously need a bigger house!
I’m with Judy again. I’ve never woven anything except potholders with those funny rubber band looking stretchy things when I was a child. I would like to learn to spin, clean and card, dye, and all the rest of what you can do to a bagful of wool. Heck, I’d like to raise sheep.
Oooh, those little potholders were some of my very first projects! My mom gave me her loom from when she was a child. I just went right to town making those. Mom had a little bulk food store when I was growing up and I had them up for sale. I think I sold them for like fifty cents! Wow, I had forgotten about my adventures as a young crafty entrepreneur! LOL
I’m with you regarding raising the sheep too. I would love to start at the very beginning of the process and complete it right to the end. That would be so satisfying, wouldn’t it? I’m guessing you would probably enjoy working with natural dyes as well, correct? I think I’m going to post the assignment I did this week just for you! 😀
