For Patsye and everyone else who is curious about the school I am attending. I highly encourage you to find out more if there is even a spark of interest… I’m only 2 weeks in and I can say that this course has already changed my life!
I am a Fibre Arts student attending school at Fleming College/Haliburton School of the Arts in Haliburton, Ontario.
It is a small campus. I believe there are just 10 classrooms. It is in such a wonderful setting surrounded by trees and very close to Head Lake. There is actually a spot with a bench to sit overlooking the lake. There is a sculpture forest right there, along with many paths through the forest. I don’t think there is a more beautiful, inspirational spot where this school could be located.

It’s a combination of luck and a tremendous leap of faith. I try to joke that rock bottom has its advantages… There’s nowhere else to go but up! I definitely count me blessing everyday 🙂
The classrooms look wonderful and I wish I had a washer and dryer just for dying fabrics. Indeed, if I ever get that farm in the country where I’m in a studio barn all day, I will have water and electricity just for this purpose alone. I went to the website of the school. It looks fantastic. You are very lucky and smart to have chosen this road. I think it will serve you well. Thanks for posting this. It’s a bit mind boggling how similar we are in our philosophy about art. But in fact, there are millions and millions of us who crave the creativity. Keep writing – I so enjoy reading. Patsye
Your studio barn sounds PERFECT! The only thing I would add to it is a solar panel to power it 🙂
